2011 ITU Long Distance Triathlon World Championships Announces Event Distances

HENDERSON, Nev. (November XX, 2010) — The International Triathlon Union, USA Triathlon, the Cities of Henderson and Las Vegas and LoweryÕs Multisport Races are excited to announce further details about the 2011 ITU Long Distance Triathlon World Championship race, taking place on Saturday, November 5, 2011, in Henderson, Nev., USA.

The official distances for the race will be a 4K swim, a 120K bike and a 30K run. Registration is now open for the event and will close for all countries on September 15, 2011. Mandatory check in for all athletes will end on November 3, 2011. As the host city for the Nevada Silverman Triathlon for the past five years, the city of Henderson and LoweryÕs Multisport Races have significant experience and expertise in managing an event of this stature.

In addition, Southern Nevada boasts 145,000 hotel rooms and the fifth-busiest airport in North America. The host hotel for the event will be the Loews Lake Las Vegas Hotel located at the Lake Las Vegas Resort, which will be the location for the swim start and T1.

¥ Spectator Viewing: Spectators can line the beautiful Lake Las Vegas Resort and view the swim start from Monte Lago Villages and the pathways lining the length of Lake Las Vegas from the Village to the Loews Hotel. Spectator viewing areas will also be set up along the run course that takes place throughout Henderson. The Silver-Mile Mixer at the District at Green Valley Ranch will be a gathering place for spectators to see their athletes and enjoy the festivities while they wait. In addition there will be designated spectator areas at the transitions and finish line.
