Is there a host hotel?
Yes. Loews Las Vegas is the official Host Hotel. You will find detailed information as well as additional lodging options on our accommodations page.
Do you offer shuttle service to and from the race site?
Loews Las Vegas (our host hotel), is located within walking distance from the start of the event. For athletes staying at other locations, it is important that you coordinate transportation to the swim start at Lake Las Vegas. We will provide transportation from the finish line back to the host hotel starting at 2pm and continuing service through 7:30pm.
What post race services do you offer?
Once you cross the finish line you will have access to a fully stocked Food Tent, Medical tent, and Massage Tent offering complimentary massages. We will also have showers accessible at the Henderson Multigenerational Center located at the Finish Line/T2. Hours of operation for the Multigenerational Center during race day are to be determined.

Do I have to attend the Mandatory Athlete Meeting?
Yes, you are required to attend the meeting. We'll be covering course rules, routes and conditions, last minute updates, USAT regulations, answering questions and much, much more. You will be responsible for knowing what is covered and how it will affect your race.
Where will Lost & Found be located during the event?
Lost and Found will be at the Information Tent located at the Finish line and T2 on Race Day. After the race, please contact firstname.lastname@example.org to locate missing items. Any items not collected within 30 days after the race will be donated to a local charity.
Will a bike tech be available during the expo?
Yes. We will have a booth set up at the expo for bike assembly and repairs.
Can I purchase tickets to the pasta dinner (Nov. 3rd) and awards banquet (Nov. 6th) for family and friends?
Yes. Tickets are available for $30 per person for each event and can either be purchased during packet pick up or at the door the day of the event. Please note that the ticket price at the door will be $35.
I know someone who is interested in volunteering during the event. Who do they contact?

Volunteering is a perfect way for your friends and family to pass the time while giving them a unique behind the scenes perspective of the race. They’ll also leave with some cool Silverman swag!
Do I have to qualify to compete in the event?
Yes. Each athlete must qualify through their countries federation race to participate in the ITU World Long Course World Championships.

What age group will I race in on race day?
The ITU Long Course WC will follow both ITU (International Triathlon Union) and USAT's (USA's National Triathlon Federation) Age Group Competition rule which states that all age group athletes must compete in the age group division corresponding to the athlete's age on December 31 of the year of the event.
When does registration close for the 2010 event?

What is the Transfer/Refund policy?
We do not allow the transfer of entries to other athletes within the ITU Long Course WC race.
There is no transferring of entries or refunds to athletes within the ITU race.
Is the swim a wave start and where can I find my wave?
The swim will be a deep water start and will consist of a wave start. You will be advised during packet pickup as to what wave, if any, you will be assigned to.
What is the expected water temperature on race day?
The average water temperature is 65-72F. A decision on wetsuits will be made 1 hour prior to race start.
What are the expected weather conditions?
During early November the weather in Henderson is typically mild with a high of 67°F and a low of 42°F. Average wind speed during the month of November is 7.5 mph. That being said, we've also experienced high winds, heat, chilly temps and hail during past Silverman events so you'll want to prepare accordingly!
Where will the aid stations be located and what products will be available?
Bike course: There are 10 aid stations on the Bike Course placed apx. 10 miles apart. Each station will have the following items in order:
- Gatorade Endurance Formula in ready-to-drink sport top bottles
- Water in sport top bottles
- Food including Hammer Gels, Hammer Bars, and bananas
- Gatorade Endurance Formula in ready-to-drink sport top bottles

There are 11 aid stations along the two loop run course located approximately every mile and will have the following items:

Where will the two transitions be located?
The Swim Start and Swim to Bike Transition (T1) will be located at next to the Interwest Condominiums and adjacent to the West side of the Montelago Bridge in Lake Las Vegas. For a map click here.
The Bike to Run Transition (T2) and Finish line will be located at the Henderson Pavilion next to the Henderson Multigenerational Center on the corner of Paseo Verde Pkwy and Green Valley Pkwy. For a map click here.
What are the course cut-off times?
Swim: The swim course will close at 10am for ALL athletes – two hours and thirty minutes after the start of the first wave start. Athletes who have not crossed the timing mat at the swim exit by 10am will not be permitted to continue on the bike course. There is a 2:15pm cut off at the start of the tunnel just before River Mountain Loop Trail. Any rider who has not reached the tunnel by that time will not be permitted to continue. The last bike course cutoff is at 3:30pm at the dismount line. Athletes arriving at the bike dismount line after 3:00pm will not be permitted to continue. Run: The run course will close at 6:30pm. All athletes still on the run course after the cut-off time will not receive an official time but will be given the opportunity to unofficially finish the race within reason.
What will be the official race drink?
The official race drink will be Gatorade.

Where can I find information on race rules and policies?
The ITU World Championships is a ITU Triathlon sanctioned event and therefore follows the guidelines established by their organization. For a complete overview of their rules and regulations please visit www.triathlon.org. USAT/ITU Officials will also be available to answer any questions you might have during the Mandatory Athlete Meeting.
Are wetsuits allowed?
A decision on wetsuits will be made 1 hour prior to race start, however with average temps in November at 65-72F this will likely be wetsuit legal event.
Are disk wheels allowed?
This will be determined on race day by the technical official.
When will the race officially end?
The race will officially end at 6:30pm.
What are the best places for spectators to view the race?
Swim: The best area to view the swim will be from Montelago Bridge located just above the swim start at Lake Las Vegas. From this vantage point you can catch both the swim start and finish. There are also plenty of great viewing spots along the shores located at either side of the bridge including the Montelago Village Note: strollers and wheelchairs should be able to navigate the swim area with relative ease.
Bike: There are several great areas to view athletes along the bike course. The New River Mountain Loop Trail will be open to pedestrians and offers ample space to set up picnic blankets and lawn chairs. (Note: only the entrance and exit points will be accessible by vehicle so be prepared to walk). Both Discovery Park and Paseo Verde Park located along Paseo Verde Parkway cater to children by offering playgrounds and also offer great vantage points of the tail end of the bike course. Lastly, anywhere along Horizon Ridge Parkway will allow for families to "set up camp" and wait for their athlete to pass. Strollers are ok in any of these areas. We ask that you do not follow athletes in your car as vehicles will not be strongly discouraged on much of the course. The roads will be very congested and heavily monitored by Lake Mead Rangers and Henderson Police Dept.
Run: There are a ton of areas to view the run, but the best place will be the finish line. The finish line will be filled with constant excitement and offer the chance to see runners 3-4 times as they pass through the finish area to start additional laps. Located in the finish area will also be an expo as well as food vendors throughout race day. Everywhere along the run course will be open to spectators so find a place that feels comfortable and enjoy the show!
Can I take my car on the race course to watch my athlete?
No, for safety reasons we ask that you do not attempt to follow your athlete by car. The best place to watch your athlete is in the transition area and the finish line. Any vehicular traffic on the race course should expect long delays. Please do not attempt to gain access to the race course with your vehicle. We want to keep the course as safe as possible for the athletes.
Will there be transportation?
Shuttle services for spectators will be determined at a later date. There will be ample spectator parking available at the swim start and the areas surrounding the Finish area.
Where should I park?
Please follow parking signage inside the Lake Las Vegas resort. Parking around the finish line will be somewhat limited. Please park at one of the following locations adjacent to the finish area: Green Valley Ranch Hotel and Casino, The District at Green Valley Ranch, or Twitchell/Vanderburg Elementary Schools on Desert Trail.

Where are the best places to eat?
At the swim start you'll find dining options at our host hotel Loews Las Vegas as well as a handful of restaurants at Montelago Village in Lake Las Vegas. Near the finish line, The District at Green Valley Ranch offers copious restaurants, and several give specials to spectators during the race. You'll also find shopping centers within driving distance with additional dining options.
Will I be allowed to cross the finish line with my athlete?
Friends and/or family members will not be permitted to cross the finish line or enter the finish chute with participating athletes. This policy will ensure the safety of all participants, volunteers and fans. Families are encouraged to reunite with their athlete once they've exited the athletes' area.
Will I be allowed into the finish line area to greet my athlete?
Unfortunately, due to high congestion in the finish line area, no spectators will be allowed. Please do not try to gain access to this area, as it must remain clear for the safety of the athletes. Before the event, you and your athlete should decide on a meeting place for after they have finished.
Will I be allowed into the medical tent to look for my athlete if they have not arrived at our meeting destination?
The Medical Tent is highly congested and spectators will not be allowed in. There will be a Medical Information Tent or table next to the Medical Tent where medical updates will be available on athletes who enter the Medical Tent. Please, be patient with the Medical Information Volunteers, updates will be reported as soon as they are received.
